 Inviting Nomination for the National Florence Nightingale Nurses Award 2020

The National Florence Nightingale Nurses Award is presented by Nursing Professionals in the country as a recognition mark for meritorious services. This award is presented annually on May 12th on the occasion of Florence Nightingale's birthday and thus this day is also celebrated all over the world as an International Nurses Day.

With regard to the above, the Indian Nursing Council is inviting for the award nomination. The 2020 National Florence Nightingale awards have now been passed to the Indian Nursing Council by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (Nursing Section) and as such all correspondence is now to be sent to the Indian Nursing Council (INC). A committee headed by Hon'ble Justice Shri Gopala Gowda, former Indian Supreme Court     Justice, will investigate the nomination for the prize.

The award is given to exceptional nursing staff in Regional, State / UTs, Public, Missionary   and Voluntary Organizations. The award is made up of Rs. 50,000 Cash Award, a certificate  and a pin.

 In addition to the nursing staff in the state, central and autonomous institutions, the nursing     staff working in private, missionary and voluntary organizations are also eligible for the         National Florence Nightingale Nurses Award. Subject to their fulfillment of the requirements, their application may also be forwarded to the State Level Selection Committee in accordance with the established procedure.

Selection criteria, application form, guidelines for preparing the nominee's resume,                  composition of the selection committee at the state level and procedure for selecting nominees for the award are found in Annex I to V.

You are asked to suggest for each group at least one panel of three titles, i.e. Auxiliary Nurses & Midwife, Registered Nurses and Midwife & Certified Lady Health Visitors.

After completion of the selection process outlined above, the names of the candidates togetherwith their resume and documentary evidence in support of the argument may be forwarded to the President, Indian Nursing Council, 8th floor, NBCC Centre, Plot No. 2, Community Centre, Okhla Phase – I, New Delhi – 110020 latest by 31st March , 2019. The following important aspects are required to be taken into account before forwarding the   nominations.

1.    All interested stakeholders may be given wide publicity in the state by issuing the requisite     circulars and uploading the enclosed documents on the State Government's official website.

2.    Please ensure that nomination applications are obtained from private and missionary               institutions as well as government institutions.

3.    The selection committee should include members of the Trained Nurses Association of           India (TNAI) at the state level or associations.

4.    It should be ensured that nominees in each of the three categories should be included in the      names panel .i.e. Nurses, midwife auxiliary nurse and visitors to Lady 

5.  It should be ensured that only those candidates who meet the criteria and proven proof of     outstanding work in their field are nominated and that all nominations are put before the        meeting of the State Selection Committee.
